Orgy Porgy
The traditional nursery rhyme: Georgie Porgie, Puddin' and Pie, Kissed the girls and made them cry, When the boys came out to play Georgie Porgie ran away.
Georgie Porgie is an early refrence to sexual harassment.
The song was about George Villiers who had good looks and had many affairs
Brave New World Version:
Orgy-porgy, Ford and fun, Kiss the girls and make them One. Boys at one with girls at peace; Orgy-porgy gives release. http://www.famousquotes.me.uk/nursery_rhymes/georgie_porgie.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgie_Porgie http://www.rhymes.org.uk/georgie_porgie.htm
This song is sung during the Solidarity Service attended by Bernard . It gives an example of the banal “religion” the World State uses to keep its members in conformity with societal rules. The song's silly wording helps show the triviality of the ceremony. The repeated calls to “Ford” also point out the connection to the assembly line. The last stanza's “orgy-porgy gives release,” is a signal that the World State has not been able to entirely annihilate human nature. There is still some need for release, some need to experience strong emotions that has not been entirely wiped out through conditioning. The Solidarity Service is one of many mechanisms the World State uses to channel strong emotions in such a way that they present no threat to the power of the State.
Georgy Porgy is an English nursery rhyme. It's about George Villiers who was the first Duke in Buckingham. He had good looks and had many affairs. George was the lover of James I and he nicknamed him Steenie. Steenie refers to St. Stephen who, in the Bible, is described as having a "face of an angel." Replacing the words "Georgy Porgy" with "Orgy Porgy" shows that conditioning starts from birth. The children of the BNW are conditioned to see sex as a regular thing by replacing nursery rhymes with lines about orgies. This rhyme furthers the conditioning of the citizens of BNW.

Benito Mussolini When did he live? July 29, 1883 – April 28, 1945
Benito Mussolini, Italian Fascist Leader.
Where? Italy. Who was he? Prime Minister of Italy, Italian Politician who led the National Fascist Party Why is he famous? Led Italy to be part of WWII (cooperating with Hitler), famous fascist and socialist, and was executed by gunshots.
Connections: Pg. 57.Benito Hoover is discussed. Besides the obvious black, curly hair, the book reads, “Out of the corner of her eye she could see Benito Hoover gaping with astonishment. The gape annoyed her. ‘Surprised I shouldn’t be begging to go with him again!’” This represents how Benito, a fascist who does not support oppositions, was surprised that Lenita was not asking him back out. The fact that she opposed his ideas and he reacted in such a way is symbolic of Benito Mussolini. Pg. 60. Benito Hoover is described as “beaming with manifest cordiality,” or an extreme politeness. Benito Mussolini was a dictator of Italy, and took on a positive outlook because he was anti-communism. However, as it dictates in the book, “‘What can be the matter with the fellow?’ he wondered, and, shaking his head, decided that the story about the alcohol having been put into the poor chap’s blood-surrogate must be true. ‘Touched his brain, I suppose.’” This shows how anyone remotely different is not equal to Benito in his mind, another idea that follows fascism (extreme pride in race). Pg. 65. Talks about how Bernard is jealous of Benito because he is so easily obeyed by the epsilons because they listen to him due to his height et cetera. This represents Mussolini because he was also an efficient Italian leader. Pg. 88. Benito is considered “normal” (as opposed to Bernard), which continues to prove Mussolini’s opinions on racial discrepancies.
